The first testimonies of Bourdeilles go back to a fortress, which in 1183 welcomed monks who came to take refuge there with the relics of Saint-Sicaire. For several centuries, confined between the crown of France and England, the château de Bourdeilles will go through many political and religious storms. Peace returned, Jacquette de Montbron built at the end of the 16th century, the Renaissance castle next to the medieval fortress. Bourdeilles then became a pleasure chateau testifying to the elegance of a new art of living.
